Solution

Infield generative user research

We began by immersing ourselves in the lives of connected vehicle users, conducting extensive infield research to understand their needs, pain points, and aspirations. This research provided invaluable insights that informed our design decisions and helped us identify key opportunities for innovation.

Prototyping innovative features

Based on our research, we prototyped a range of innovative digital product features and vehicle enhancements. These included voice-activated integrations, personalized profiles that adapted to individual drivers, and an open platform for seamless in-vehicle transactions.

User experience design

Leading the UX design team, I developed a conceptual UI that was visually striking and highly functional. Our design emphasized clarity, accessibility, and personalization, ensuring that drivers could effortlessly engage with the connected vehicle features and easily navigate the new features and infotainment.

Northstar video

To inspire investment and showcase our vision, I led the creation of a northstar promotional video. This involved scripting, storyboarding, and post-production editing to craft a compelling narrative that highlighted the transformative potential of Project Constellation.

Results & impact

The Project Constellation Northstar was unveiled at CES 2018 showing OEM investors how SiriusXM Connected Vehicles was designing a future within reach—They now have 15+ active OEM programs, serving over 12 million active vehicles on the road.

Continued innovation

SiriusXM continues to expand and leverage the reference designs we developed, using them as a foundation for new B2B features and over-the-air updates across all vehicles with Uconnect and Guardian subscriptions.

Industry recognition

In 2020, SiriusXM Connected Vehicle Services was named Company of the Year in the Telematics Industry by Frost & Sullivan, a testament to the success of our collaboration and the transformative impact of Project Constellation.

Partnerships and expansion

Following the showcase at CES 2018, SiriusXM announced a partnership with Visa to launch an in-vehicle payments tool—a direct outcome of the innovations developed during our project.
